StoreFront for Square

Square Point of Sale (POS) is feature-rich system that provides everything you need to accept payments in your retail space.

With StoreFront's application for Square, you can start selling anywhere. StoreFront and Square will automatically update your inventory, and order data across online and offline channels so you do not have to track your digital and physical sales separately.

Note

This feature is only available for customers in the UK, US, and Canada.

  • Merchants with StoreFront stores created independently can connect with Square and automatically sync inventory, product catalog, and orders.

Initial Product Import

When you create a new StoreFront store through Square, we automatically import up to 250 products from Square to StoreFront. This import transfers the following details:

  • SKU (if a Square product does not have SKU, StoreFront will set its Square product ID as SKU)

  • Name

  • Price

  • Image

  • Description

  • Options with titles and price modifiers

  • Category

The initial import transfers products with unlimited stock levels.

Update Inventory

To ensure accurate stock count and prevent overselling, we automatically sync product stock levels between StoreFront and Square when the following are true:

  • The option to Sync your inventory and sell offline with Square Register is enabled in StoreFront (Store Menu, All Sales Channels, Square).

  • Products have matching SKU numbers in both systems.

Automatic inventory sync is available for StoreFront stores registered through Square.

When selling with Square, StoreFront updates your online product stock levels (for matching SKUs) within minutes of a new order. A reciprocal process occurs when products are purchased from your online store to keep your product stock levels up to date.

Sync Orders

Go to Store Menu, click All Sales Channels, then click Square, and enable Sync your inventory and sell offline with Square Register to automatically sync between StoreFront and Square. Orders will sync if all of the following are true:

  • The order was paid for with Square payments.

  • The option to sync your inventory and sell offline with Square Register is enabled.

Orders created with Square will not appear in the Store Menu, but the system will automatically update the stock of the purchased products.

Set Up Location for Pickup Orders

If you provide pickup options from several locations, synchronization between online pickup orders and retail locations in Square is crucial. You must assign a pickup location for each pickup option in Store Menu. To set up a pickup option and specify a pickup location:

  1. Go to the Store Menu, and click Shipping & Pickup.

  2. Click Add In-store Pickup.

  3. Configure the pickup option by typing a name, instructions for the customer, and a pickup date and time.

  4. Select the desired store address from your list of active locations specified in Square's dashboard.

  5. Ensure your store locations are activated in your Square dashboard. For more information, see the Square Support Center.

  6. Click Add Pickup Option.

When a customer selects a pickup option at checkout, their order is associated with the corresponding business location in your Square dashboard.
